A Spring Surprise

The animals are gathering for a spring picnic, and everyone is bringing something to share. Mrs. Rabbit has something sweet. Benjamin has something fun. Peter isn't sure what he has to offer, and sets off to find out.

What he finds is a surprise — for him as much as for the reader. The story is less about the destination than the looking: early spring light, the first flowers, the particular feeling of a morning that is warmer than you expected.

Taylor's colours here are her freshest — pale yellows, soft greens, the clear blue of an April sky. A natural gift for Easter, but worth reading at any point in spring.
